Looks like management has taken notice of Dube like the rest of us have. This could be a huge night for the kid.

This is a really interesting lineup overall. Lots of players to watch (like Czarnik on the 2nd line) and lots of new looks. Should be an interesting team to watch tonight.

Valimaki, Mangiapane and Dube are getting the longest looks. If they play tonight it'll be the 3rd game for each of them.

Look for Lazar to have a breakout game.

This Flames team looks to be pretty good so far. My concern is still Smith. Once he gets hurt, they got nobody who can keep the puck out of the net. That and the sizeable downgrade on d has me worried.

He better as he is about to get leap frogged. If Dube & Bennett have any chemistry tonight, I can see Peters shuffling Janko up & moving Dube to RW & if that works, I bet Dube gets at least 9 nhl games this year & Lazar starts in Stockton.
That hunger Dube has just might rub off on Benny & Janko & we may see quite the line forming here. Peters loves his alternate centres on lines.

So it starts already. Let the boys play a couple of games before you get your panties in a knot.
Dube played well enough to stay, the only way he gets sent down is because he doesn't have to clear waivers. Buying time to move Lazar. Now is probably the best time to send players that have to clear waivers as other teams would have to do the same.

Fair point. Our "league best" defense wasnt so poop hot last year, so maybe they will surprise us this year.

I hear you.

But since Kipper goaltending has been a question, and people have the right to be a little up tight.

But we are due to have someone step up. I am hopeful by the end of they year we have it sorted.

I doubt Dube makes the team. Treliving is too scared to lose useless players to waivers. Look at last year when Jankowski was the best Flame in the preseason but didn't make the team so they didn't have to expose anyone to waivers.

Losing Byron for nothing kinda hurt. Not a bad thing to be cautious.

Wouldn't you say Treliving's focus has shifted since the Flames missed the play-offs last year? Maybe he'll keep that focus on what's best for putting the best possible team on the ice versus asset micromanagement? We can all hope so.

It also depends on if he thinks it's better for Dube to play Top 6 in Stockton or Bottom 6 in Calgary. If we think he needs Top 6 minutes then it might be better to give it to him in Stockton than giving him Bottom 6 minutes in Calgary, and calling him up if anyone in the top 6 gets injured.

I think he should be on the team regardless, but we'll see what management thinks.

Bottom 6 in Calgary > top 6 in Stockton. If the kid can handle the big league he should stay. Now i do agree with Hunk, easier to send him down.

Anyone know why they have Vancouver announcers for a home game? I (frank)ing hate Garrett!

He looks like a natural fit with Backlund and Tkachuk

Unless Dube takes another major step forward, he's not a top 6 guy. He's already performing above expectations. He's going to be a bottom 6 NHL guy.

That being said, is anyone going to claim Lazar if he's put on waivers? Would anyone on the Flames care?

I also just noticed that Cap Friendly has Gilles as waiver exempt but not Rittich. Is that accurate? If that's true, I don't see how they don't start the year with Rittich as the backup.

If that’s the case could have a 3rd line of

Bennett Ryan Neal/Lindholm

Lots of possibilities this year!

Looks like there’s a lot of depth if there’s injuries too.
